Telugu Titans Pro Kabaddi Season 7 Team Analysis
The Pro Kabaddi Auction ahead of Season 7 was a highly anticipated affair with several teams looking to put together the remaining pieces of the jigsaw puzzle but also others looking to hit the reset button as they move forward with a completely new unit filled with new personnel. The auction wasn’t short of the star quotient either, with the likes of Monu Goyat, Rahul Chaudhari, Abozar Mighani, Sandeep Narwal, Nitin Tomar, Rishank Devadiga and Siddharth Desai all up for grabs!
There are positives and negatives when it comes to re-booting a side completely in an auction that has 12 teams vying for top players. On one hand, the purse available is significantly larger (teams like Puneri Paltan, Telugu Titans & UP Yodha had this luxury) than several other sides that have retained their core and that gives the team owners the ability to bully the auction a little and raise the price of players which competing owners definitely want back in their squads. On the other hand however, with 11 other teams vying for each player, the chances of putting together a balanced side from scratch become harder than when it was in an 8-team league and each team’s strategy tables have gotten smarter too with every passing auction.
Time to jump straight into our analysis of each team ahead of this Pro Kabaddi Season 7 and give you a detailed breakdown of the side with the strengths and potential gaps, which need to be addressed before July arrives. We at Kabaddi Adda have decided to detail each squad with a SWOT Analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities & Threats) to understand where they currently stand but also to give all Kabaddi fans an idea of where these teams could find room to improve as the season kicks off…and we certainly expect a few surprises too!
It’s fair to say that the Telugu Titans are perhaps the side with the most individual talent at various times over the last six seasons of Pro Kabaddi but with the least amount of silverware in relation to their potential. Their side has revolved around the original poster-boy of Pro Kabaddi, but that’s all about to change as they move on for the first time from the Rahul Chaudhari era and into the era of another new phenom in the sport, Siddharth Desai.
The fact that the squad hasn’t tasted much success built around ONE big raider did not seem to bother the owners and coaching staff as they’ve essentially gone back to the same plan, albeit with another superstar raider except this is one that is just coming off a shoulder surgery and will have to push himself hard to make it through all 22 games of the season as the lead raider. At various times through PKL 6, we were all witness to plenty of unrest within the team between the likes of Rahul Chaudhari, Vishal Bhardwaj and at times Nilesh Salunke too. One must remember that at this level of sport, managing players becomes as much about managing egos & the superstar quotient as it is about managing the skills and performance of a team unit. The team has rung in major changes in the raid department but has a distinctely Iranian flavor from Former Coach of U Mumba, GholamReza to the defense with Abozar & Farhad in their hope of progressing further than before in PKL 7.

On first look at the squad, one thing becomes very apparent – yes, they have big Sid Desai but the raid department in a THREE-MONTH LONG league has NOBODY else of note! Therein lies a big problem for the squad, especially given that Desai is not 100% fit and will be targeted by opposition defenders. They have a wonderful corner combination of Vishal Bhardwaj & Abozar but could have used the 60L that was spent on Vishal on a 2nd lead or even two more raiders given that they have the talented left corner, Krushna Madane who risks being wasted for a second season in a row.
It’s a side that has the star quotient but terribly lacks balance and would need a few of their young raiders to fire to keep this team in the playoffs hunt!
