Puneri Paltan Pro Kabaddi Season 7 Team Analysis
The Pro Kabaddi Auction ahead of Season 7 was a highly anticipated affair with several teams looking to put together the remaining pieces of the jigsaw puzzle but also others looking to hit the reset button as they move forward with a completely new unit filled with new personnel. The auction wasn’t short of the star quotient either, with the likes of Monu Goyat, Rahul Chaudhari, Abozar Mighani, Sandeep Narwal, Nitin Tomar, Rishank Devadiga and Siddharth Desai all up for grabs!
There are positives and negatives when it comes to re-booting a side completely in an auction that has 12 teams vying for top players. On one hand, the purse available is significantly larger (teams like Puneri Paltan, Telugu Titans & UP Yodha had this luxury) than several other sides that have retained their core and that gives the team owners the ability to bully the auction a little and raise the price of players which competing owners definitely want back in their squads. On the other hand however, with 11 other teams vying for each player, the chances of putting together a balanced side from scratch become harder than when it was in an 8-team league and each team’s strategy tables have gotten smarter too with every passing auction.
Time to jump straight into our analysis of each team ahead of this Pro Kabaddi Season 7 and give you a detailed breakdown of the side with the strengths and potential gaps, which need to be addressed before July arrives. We at Kabaddi Adda have decided to detail each squad with a SWOT Analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities & Threats) to understand where they currently stand but also to give all Kabaddi fans an idea of where these teams could find room to improve as the season kicks off…and we certainly expect a few surprises too!
The Puneri Paltan are a setup that will hope that a few years of frustration will culminate into it all coming together in PKL 7. A side that looked terrific and dangerous on paper in PKL 6, lost their way with major injuries to the likes of Nitin Tomar, Girish Ernak and more, through a stop-start campaign which saw them finish with just 8 wins in their 22 matches and miss out on a playoff spot too. A side that relied traditionally on their defence heavy structure will see a complete shift to being a potent raiding unit in PKL7 with the FBM Card used on Nitin Tomar for a whopping Rs. 1.2cr who will be join by the lanky, Manjeet, who could only get better in his second PKL season and also Pawan Kadian, Darshan Kadian and Iranian, Emad Sedaghatnia. There are still question marks around the form and fitness of Girish Ernak and also Surjeet Singh but they will rely on their experience to support the younger looking defence of Sagar Krishna, Hadi Tajik, Shubham Shinde and Satpal.
Puneri is a side that has traditionally underperformed given the potential they’ve had and if they can keep their injury concerns at bay, this could be a very solid season for the men from the West.

Puneri is a side that has traditionally underperformed given the potential they’ve had and if they can keep their injury concerns at bay, this could be a very solid season for the men from the West. Manjeet could be an outside pick for best raider in this squad with Pawan & Darshan needing to play critical support roles. The corner combination will be tested but the presence of Girish + Surjeet in the covers gives them reason to believe that the defense could be watertight on most nights. In addition, the presence of Anup Kumar as Coach could offer a players’ perspective from someone who has played this faster form of PKL himself and been a tremendous leader and man-manager. It’s a side that ticks a lot of boxes but that is something they are used to and now have to convert into results in the season to come.
