Karnal Girls and Sonipat Boys crowned Khelo Haryana Champions

The final day of the Haryana Khelo tournament had some exciting matchups to look forward to in the boy's category. Rohtak takes on Panipat, whereas Sonipat went head to head with Fatehabad with all the teams coming into this match with impressive wins in the earlier rounds. 

In the girl's category, Hisar went head to head against a strong Bhiwani side. Dadri's next stop was a game against mighty girls from Karnal, who already had some big wins up their sleeves. 

Boys category 

Semi-final  1 - Rohtak and Panipat had some decent wins in their previous round. Both teams came with confidence that they could pip the other one out for the place in the final. Rohtak and Panipat both started the game strongly and it looked like an even contest early in the match. But soon Panipat's team started dominating proceedings in both attack and defense. Match went from an equally contested game to a one-sided game. With the final scoreline reading Rohtak 20-35 Panipat.

Semi-final  2 - Sonipat 34-33 Fatehabad

Both teams were favorites to win the match, and it was a treat for the neutrals out there as to who will eventually come on top. Both teams played to their strength and were dead-locked 27 all in the regular time. The game then went to a format of 5 raids each. No defender would go out even if he was touched and gave away a point. 5 different raiders would raid from each team. Both teams yet again proved to be equal and were tied 33 - all. This prompted the game to be decided by a golden raid, Sonipat won the toss and went out to raid. Fatehabad became a bit too eager to score a point right at the death which eventually proved to be Sonipat's gain.

Finals - Panipat 27-31 Sonipat
     
Panipat came into the finals with confidence, that they could win games against any side, especially those that are closely contested. Sonipat had a thrilling contest earlier were ready for any challenge ahead. The game eventually proved to be an easy outing for Sonipat as they controlled the game and were outright winners with a 4 point margin and were crowned as the Champions.

Girls Category 

Semi-Final - 1 Hisar 48-26 Bhiwani

Hisar and Bhiwani both came here with big wins in their kitty. But for Bhiwani, the pressure gave it away as they could not handle the barge from Hisar girls who hammered them to win the game by 22 points to storm into the finals.

Semi-final2 - Dadri 20-36 Karnal  

The 2nd semi-final was not much different from the 1st. Karnal proved to be too hot to handle for girls from Dadri as they lost by a 16 point margin with Karnal moving forward into the finals. 

Finals -  Hisar 42-54 Karnal  

The game proved to be the battle of raiders. As both teams went all out as this was the game of their lives. They toiled hard, and gave it their all out there. But Karnal proved to be a superior team as the high-scoring game ended in their favor, as they were crowned champions of the girl's category. 

The winners along with trophies and certificates were given the cash prize of 5000 rupees each to the winning team players.
Runner ups - were given 3000 rupees each. 3rd placed team was given 2000 rupees each.
